First ‘Unbroken’ trailer has me FREAKED OUT, period.

This is more of a heads-up than a real blog.

In perusing Facebook as a defense mechanism to “The Bachelor,” to which my wife and daughter are hopelessly addicted and currently watching on DVR, I just ran across this, the first trailer of the upcoming motion picture, “Unbroken,” set for release on Christmas Day.  I’ve never before watched a trailer for any movie with more rapt attention or larger goosebumps. If you’re not one of the gazillion people who have read Laura Hillenbrand’s novel by the same name, I urge you to get it immediately.  I’m serious.  Right now! GO!

This movie probably means a little more to me personally than most people.  In February 2012, I traveled to Los Angeles to interview Louis Zamperini, the subject of “Unbroken,” for the publication I worked for at the time.  The experience of meeting Mr. Zamperini, now 97, in his amazing home perched beneath the iconic Hollywood sign is one I’ll always count as a career highlight.

If you’ve got a minute, read this post I wrote about Mr. Zamperini and E.B. Sledge back in 2012.  Louis Zamperini is simply an American treasure, like Mt. Rushmore or jazz music or baseball, and I hope he lives to be 150.  I can’t say it would surprise me.
